The Experia Fibre Optic Tranquility Tunnel is the only Experia sensory product in which the user is inside the fibre optics, not looking at them from the outside. Available across North America in two models β Calming and Superactive it is a 48"L x 40"W x 32"H padded fibre optic tunnel that users can crawl through, lie inside, or climb up and over, while hundreds of colour-changing LED fibre optic strands shift above their head and around them.
The experience of being enclosed in changing colour is fundamentally different from watching a fibre optic wall panel or a bubble tube from across the room. Inside the Tranquility Tunnel, the sensory input is directional β above the user, close, surrounding. The fibre optic light source is internal, and the tunnel structure holds the strands above and around whoever is inside. It is calming not because it is distant and ambient, but because it is close, soft, and enveloping.
The tunnel is manufactured from strong, phthalate-free vinyl with enough structural integrity for users to climb up and over the outside of the tunnel β not just through it. This is an important purchase signal for settings where rough-and-tumble use is expected; the tunnel is engineered to take it. Crawling through the tunnel also develops upper body strength and supports motor planning β the page's own copy notes crawling as a precursor to handwriting and fine motor skill development.
The Calming model cycles through colours automatically with no controller. The Superactive model includes the wireless 8-button Qi-charging controller (90ft range), and the Maze Controller is available as an add-on for tilt-to-change gross motor interaction.
All components operate on low voltage via the included transformer plugged into a standard 110v outlet. Adult supervision required. Ages 3+.
Key Features of the Experia Fibre Optic Tranquility Tunnel
- Fibre Optics Inside - Colour Changes Happen Around and Above the User - The fibre optic strands are inside the tunnel, illuminating the interior so that users crawling through or lying inside are enclosed in colour-changing light β a sensory experience that no wall-mounted fibre optic panel or bubble tube can replicate.
- Crawl Through OR Climb Up and Over - Incredibly Sturdy Construction - The tunnel is engineered to be used in two ways: users can crawl through the inside to experience the colour-changing fibre optic interior, or they can climb up and over the outside of the tunnel as a gross motor challenge. The construction supports both uses.
- Two Models - Calming and Superactive - The Calming model cycles through colours automatically with no controller required. The Superactive model includes the wireless 8-button Qi-charging controller (90ft range) for user-controlled colour changes, with the Maze Controller available as an add-on.
- Phthalate-Free Vinyl - Strong, Easy to Clean - The entire tunnel is manufactured from strong, phthalate-free vinyl that wipes clean, meeting the hygiene standards required in school, clinic, and care environments while withstanding active physical use.
- Crawling Develops Upper Body Strength and Fine Motor Precursor Skills - Crawling through the tunnel builds upper body strength and bilateral coordination β skills directly relevant to handwriting readiness, fine motor development, and the physical foundation for many daily living tasks.
- Visual and Tactile Sensory Experience - The fibre optic interior creates both a visual sensory input (colour-changing light above and around the user) and a tactile one (the soft vinyl surface, the enclosed proprioceptive experience of being inside a tunnel).
- Internal LED Light Sources - No Lamp Replacement Required - The tunnel is illuminated by internal LED light sources that never need replacing, keeping ongoing maintenance minimal.
- Low Voltage Operation via Included Transformer - Operates on low voltage through the included transformer, plugged into a standard 110v outlet.
- Made in the USA - Manufactured by Experia USA.
Skills Developed Through the Experia Fibre Optic Tranquility Tunnel
- Gross Motor Skills - Crawling through the tunnel on hands and knees, and climbing up and over the outside, develops bilateral coordination, upper body strength, core stability, and spatial navigation β all key gross motor foundations.
- Fine Motor Precursor Skills - Crawling is a confirmed developmental precursor to handwriting and fine motor dexterity; the tunnel provides a motivating gross motor context that directly supports fine motor readiness.
- Visual Tracking - Following the shifting colours of the fibre optics above and around the user while moving through the tunnel develops visual tracking within a multisensory, whole-body movement context.
- Proprioceptive Awareness - The enclosed tunnel space provides strong proprioceptive input β the user feels the tunnel walls, ceiling, and floor around them, developing body-in-space awareness through the experience of a bounded sensory environment.
- Sensory Regulation and Calming - The combination of enclosed space, colour-changing light, and controlled sensory input makes the tunnel a natural retreat for individuals who need to down-regulate; the cocoon-like environment supports self-regulation.
- Communication and Social Skills - Two users can be in the tunnel simultaneously; shared sensory experience inside the tunnel creates a natural context for turn-taking, parallel play, and spontaneous communication.

- Sensory rooms and multi-sensory environments adding a fibre optic tunnel for immersive whole-body sensory input
- OT clinics and therapy spaces where crawling, proprioceptive input, and fine motor precursor activities are therapeutic goals
- Schools and inclusive classrooms where an enclosed sensory hideaway supports de-escalation and voluntary regulation
- Children's gyms, play-based learning environments, and early years settings where active gross motor exploration is valued
- Children and adults of all abilities who benefit from whole-body immersive fibre optic sensory input
- Settings where both Calming passive and Superactive interactive fibre optic experiences are needed from the same piece of equipment
- Dimension: 48" L x 40" W x 32" H

FAQ:
- What is the difference between IRiS, Superactive, Calming?
- IRiS: Take full control of your Sensory Room with Experia's revolutionary IRiS Wireless Sensory Products range. IRiS Products use the latest technology to allow any IRiS Talker to control any IRiS listener creating stimulating interactive multisensory environments for the user. Each controller has been specifically designed for special needs users to improve skills such as color recognition, gross and fine motor skills.
- What is a Listener?: Experia products that light up and change colours, or create sound. This would include Bubble Tubes, Fibre Optics, Recordable Speakers, and more. They are "Listeners" because they are listening for a signal from an Experia controller.
- What is a Talker?:A Talker is Experia's word for a controller. Talkers/Controllers send signals to Listeners to change colours or make sounds. They are Talking to the Listeners. Talkers would include the Colour Selector, Qube, Balance Beam, and many more.
- Superactive: The Superactive range of products allow the user a wonderful level of control over their environment. All Superactive products can be controlled with the standard 8 color wireless controller or the brand new wireless Maze Controller! The standard 8 color wireless controller is included with all our Superactive products unless otherwise specified. Adding both controllers allows for maximum Superactive feature usability for the best user experience.
- Calming: The Calming range of products are designed to calm and relax individuals in certain settings. Simply plug them in and enjoy the lighting as each calming product slowly cycles through a rainbow of colours!
- Will the Sensory Room packages fit in my room?
- This depends not just on the room’s dimensions but on several factors like the layout of the room, location of windows and heating & cooling elements, and number & location of power outlets.
- What skills do Experia products help develope?
- Gross & Fine Motor
- Auditory
- Communicative
- Visual
- Creative & logical thinking
