Explore, Discover & Illuminate with the ROYLCO LED Color-Changing Light Cube Sensory Exploration Kit – Eight Activities, Complete Kit – X-Rays, Optical Illusions, Pipettes, Trays & Counting Rings for the ROYLCO Light Cube

Description

The ROYLCO LED Colour Changing Light Cube Sensory Exploration Kit is a complete activity accessory kit for the ROYLCO LED Colour Changing Light Cube, available now across Canada & the US at The Sensory Supply. Designed for early childhood educators and occupational therapists, this kit gives the light cube a structured curriculum purpose - transforming it from a sensory light tool into a full hands-on STEAM and sensory exploration centre with eight distinct activity categories ready to use from day one.

The light cube is sold separately. This kit supplies everything needed to build a term's worth of structured light cube activities around counting, sorting, X-ray science, optical illusions, colour mixing, pipette art, and hands-on investigation.

This kit is compatible with the ROYLCO LED Color Changing Light Cube, sold separately at The Sensory Supply. The kit does not include the light cube. Purchase both to complete the full sensory and STEAM exploration setup.

What Is Included in the ROYLCO Sensory Exploration Kit

  • 5 clear plastic trays that fit snugly onto the ROYLCO Light Cube surface
  • Counting and stringing rings
  • 12 optical illusion sheets
  • 2 paint pipettes
  • 2 squiggle pipettes
  • 8 clear vials
  • 3 paint scrapers
  • 8 animal X-rays
  • Teacher guide with activity descriptions

Key Features of the ROYLCO LED Colour Changing Light Cube Sensory Exploration Kit

  • 5 Clear Plastic Trays That Fit Snugly onto the Light Cube - The trays are custom-sized to sit securely on the cube's 16" x 16" surface, creating a contained workspace for wet, messy, and small-item activities without materials sliding off the light surface
  • Counting and Stringing Rings - Brightly coloured rings that glow when placed on the illuminated surface, turning counting, sorting, sequencing, and pattern-making activities into a visual, light-enhanced experience
  • 12 Optical Illusion Sheets - Twelve sheets designed to create optical illusion movement effects when placed on the cube and explored under different light colours and flashing modes, supporting visual perception exploration and creative investigation
  • 2 Paint Pipettes - Standard pipettes for colour-mixing, pouring, and transferring liquids or gel materials on the light surface; supports fine motor control and early science investigation
  • 2 Squiggle Pipettes - Uniquely shaped pipettes that create irregular, unpredictable paint trails on the light surface, encouraging mark-making, creative experimentation, and the kind of open-ended sensory art that children return to repeatedly
  • 8 Clear Vials - Small transparent vials for filling, sorting, and examining materials under the light cube's colour modes; ideal for examining transparency, opacity, and colour mixing through direct investigation
  • 3 Paint Scrapers - Flat scrapers for dragging, blending, and creating patterns with paint or gel on the cube surface, developing fine motor precision and mark-making confidence
  • 8 Animal X-Rays - High-quality X-ray prints of animals that come to life when backlit by the light cube; children can examine anatomy, compare skeletons, and explore biology in a way that is immediately captivating and naturally STEAM-aligned
  • Teacher Guide Included - A comprehensive teacher guide describes specific activities for each component of the kit, making it easy for educators to plan and deliver structured light cube sessions from the first day of use

Activities Supported by the Sensory Exploration Kit

The kit is structured around eight distinct activity domains, each addressing a different curriculum and developmental area:

  • Counting & Sorting - Use the counting and stringing rings on the illuminated tray to explore number, pattern, colour matching, and sequencing in a visually stimulating light-enhanced environment.
  • Optical Illusion Exploration - Layer the 12 optical illusion sheets under different light colours and lighting modes to explore visual perception, motion effects, and how light interacts with printed patterns.
  • Animal X-Ray Science - Backlight the 8 animal X-rays to examine skeletal anatomy, compare the internal structures of different animals, and introduce early biology and life science concepts through genuine scientific specimens.
  • Colour Mixing & Pipette Art - Use the paint and squiggle pipettes with the clear trays to mix colours, create patterns, and explore how pigments interact - supporting both STEAM science and early art curriculum.
  • Mark-Making & Sensory Art - Drag the paint scrapers through paint or gel on the lighted surface to create patterns and textures, building fine motor precision and mark-making confidence in a sensory-rich context.
  • Transparency & Light Science - Fill the clear vials with different materials and examine them on the light surface to explore transparency, opacity, colour transmission, and basic optics in a hands-on, child-directed way.
  • Sensory Regulation & Focused Play - Use the trays, rings, and vials as tools for tactile, visual, and fine motor sensory activities in calm corner or sensory integration sessions, where the light cube's colour modes add a regulating visual dimension.
  • Open-Ended Investigation - The entire kit supports child-directed exploration as well as structured educator-led activities; children who are simply given access to the materials and the cube will generate their own investigative play without prompting.

Skills & Development Supported by the Sensory Exploration Kit

  • Fine Motor Skills - Handling pipettes, filling vials, dragging scrapers, threading rings, and placing items in trays all develop the precise hand and finger control that transfers directly to writing, drawing, and daily independence tasks
  • Visual Processing & Sensory Integration - Tracking colour and light effects through optical illusion sheets, watching X-rays illuminate, and observing how materials change appearance under different light colours all develop visual processing and the attended visual engagement central to sensory integration work
  • Early Science & STEAM Concepts - Examining animal X-rays, mixing colours, exploring transparency with vials, and observing optical illusions introduce scientific inquiry, hypothesis testing, and early STEAM concepts through direct, tactile, light-based experience
  • Colour Recognition & Early Mathematics - Sorting and counting rings by colour, filling vials to specific levels, and sequencing ring patterns introduce colour, number, measurement, and pattern concepts in a visually rich context
  • Creative & Imaginative Thinking - The open-ended nature of pipette art, scraper mark-making, and optical illusion exploration invites children to create, experiment, and investigate without prescribed outcomes

Ideal for

  • Children aged 3 and up in classroom, therapy, and home settings
  • Early childhood educators integrating STEAM and sensory exploration into their curriculum
  • Occupational therapists using fine motor and visual processing activities in structured sessions
  • Families who own the ROYLCO LED Color Changing Light Cube and want a complete, teacher-guided activity kit to extend its use
  • Neurotypical and neurodiverse children of all abilities who benefit from hands-on, multi-sensory, light-based exploration
