Most sensory rooms are designed around a freestanding bubble tube. The TFH Lights & Bubbles Water Panel takes a different approach: the same colour-cycling, bubble-rising, chromotherapy visual experience, but mounted flat against the wall, using just one litre of water, and occupying no floor space at all. In a classroom calm corner, a hospital ward, a home sensory area, or any setting across Canada & the US where floor space is limited or a freestanding tube is impractical, this bubble wall delivers the therapeutic value of a bubble tube in a form factor that fits where columns cannot.
The panel mounts to any standard wall surface and measures 40cm wide by 120cm high by 10cm deep (approximately 16" x 47" x 4"). The 150cm height variant is also available — see the team note in the specifications for current availability confirmation. The viewing area is a sealed water chamber containing only one litre of water: a meaningful safety and maintenance advantage over the multiple gallons required by a freestanding bubble tube.
The Airflow Range — From Jellyfish to a Dense Stream
The defining feature of this bubble wall is its fully adjustable airflow control. The range runs from "Sporadic" at the low end to "Loads of Bubbles" at the high end — and the difference between those two extremes is therapeutic, not merely aesthetic.
At the lowest airflow setting, the bubbles emerge slowly and individually, growing large before they rise — TFH Canada describes these as "Jellyfish" bubbles. They float to the top one at a time, disappear, and leave a long pause before the next bubble appears. This is a calming, low-stimulation setting: the unpredictability of when the next bubble will appear makes it a useful tool for prediction and anticipation, while the slow individual movement invites sustained visual tracking without overwhelming the visual field.
At the highest airflow setting, bubbles stream continuously in a dense, busy upward flow — engaging, eye-catching, and stimulating. This setting raises arousal and supports active sensory engagement rather than calming.
The ability to dial between these two extremes during a session means the bubble wall can serve both over-stimulated and under-stimulated users, and can be adjusted in real time to match the current needs of the individual.
Key Features of the TFH Lights & Bubbles Water Panel
- Wall-Mounted Design — No Floor Space Required — The panel mounts flush to any standard wall surface; it does not freestand and cannot be used as a floor unit; this makes it the right choice for spaces where a freestanding tube is impractical, including narrow hallways, small calm corners, hospital rooms, and classrooms with limited floor area
- Only 1 Litre of Water Required — The sealed water chamber requires just one litre of water to fill, compared to the multiple gallons needed by freestanding bubble tubes; this reduces installation effort, simplifies maintenance, and makes the panel genuinely practical for settings without easy access to large water sources
- Fully Adjustable Airflow Control — "Sporadic" to "Loads of Bubbles" — The easy-access flow control dial adjusts bubble output from slow individual jellyfish-style bubbles (calming, low stimulation) to a continuous dense stream (stimulating, high engagement); the full range is accessible during a session without interruption
- Jellyfish Bubble Effect at Low Airflow — At the lowest setting, large individual bubbles float slowly upward and disappear — a predictable, calming visual rhythm that supports self-regulation through anticipation and sustained low-demand visual tracking
- Colour-Cycling LED with Colour Hold Feature — The panel cycles through a preset range of colours with a colour hold option that lets the therapist or user stop the cycle on a preferred colour; compatible with the wired 4-button colour selector (9SPSL), the Colour Cube (9BCCC), and the MSE Genie App (9BTRX) for expanded colour control
- Low Vibration for Tactile Engagement — The panel generates gentle vibration through the wall surface when mounted, providing a supplementary tactile sensory input for users who touch or lean against the wall alongside the panel
- Dimensions: 40cm W x 120cm H x 10cm D — A slim, precisely sized panel that integrates cleanly into most wall configurations; the 10cm depth is shallow enough to sit flush with most wall-mounted furniture and displays
- Mounting Hardware Not Included — The panel installs easily on any wall using standard screws and wall plugs (not included); the mounting process requires basic DIY capability; TFH recommends verifying wall type and load capacity before installation
- Compatible with TFH Colour and App Controllers — Works with the wired 4-button colour selector (9SPSL), Colour Cube (9BCCC), Tilt Control (9STLT), Floor Pad (9MSQRM), Feather Wall Pad (9CTFR), and the MSE Genie App (9BTRX) — the full range of TFH interactive controllers for expanded user control options
- Made in England by TFH — Manufactured to TFH's sensory room equipment standards; designed for durable use in institutional, clinical, and home settings
How the Bubble Wall Differs From a Bubble Tube
A freestanding bubble tube and a bubble wall serve overlapping therapeutic purposes — colour cycling, bubble movement, visual tracking, chromotherapy, gentle vibration — but they have distinct practical and experiential differences that make each the right choice in different contexts.
A bubble tube is freestanding, tall, and three-dimensional. Users can walk around it, touch all sides, feel the vibration radiating from the column, and sit close in a padded podium. It occupies floor space and requires multiple gallons of distilled water.
A bubble wall is flat, wall-mounted, and two-dimensional. It can be placed at any height — at standing height for an adult, at seated height for a child in a wheelchair, at floor level for users who lie beside it. It uses one litre of water and requires no floor space. The viewing experience is more contained and focused: one flat panel rather than a column in the round.
For spaces that already have a bubble tube, the bubble wall adds a second, complementary visual sensory element. For spaces that cannot accommodate a tube, the bubble wall delivers the core therapeutic experience in a format that fits.
Therapeutic Uses of the TFH Bubble Wall
TFH Canada identifies the following specific therapeutic uses for the bubble wall: prediction (anticipating when the next bubble will appear); tactile engagement through low vibration from the panel surface; visual tracking (following individual bubbles upward); fine motor control (operating the airflow control and colour selector); position, size, and location comparison (comparing bubble sizes, positions, and movement paths); and colour recognition (identifying and naming colours as the LED cycles).
This range of uses makes the bubble wall relevant across occupational therapy, speech and language therapy (colour and object naming), and classroom-based sensory regulation programmes.
Skills Developed Through Engagement with the TFH Lights & Bubbles Water Panel
- Visual Tracking & Oculomotor Development — Following individual bubbles from emergence at the base to disappearance at the top trains smooth pursuit eye movement and sustained tracking — a foundational visual motor skill with direct relevance to reading and fine motor tasks
- Prediction & Anticipation — At low airflow settings, the unpredictable timing of jellyfish bubbles builds the cognitive skill of prediction — waiting, anticipating, and responding to a delayed visual event that requires sustained attention and patience
- Colour Recognition & Colour Hold Interaction — The colour cycling display and the colour hold feature create structured opportunities for colour identification, colour preference expression, and cause-and-effect learning through controller interaction
- Fine Motor Control & Hand-Eye Coordination — Operating the airflow dial and the colour controller develops fine motor precision and the hand-eye coordination that comes from purposeful, immediately rewarding control interactions
- Position, Size & Spatial Comparison — Comparing the size, position, and movement path of different bubbles builds early spatial and mathematical reasoning concepts including bigger/smaller, faster/slower, top/bottom, and left/right
- Self-Regulation & Calm — The combination of gentle vibration through the wall surface, slow colour cycling, and the meditative rhythm of rising bubbles supports self-regulation and the calming of an over-aroused sensory system; adjustable to individual arousal needs via the flow control
- Tactile Sensory Input Through Vibration — Users who place their hands, arms, or bodies against the panel surface receive gentle whole-surface tactile and proprioceptive input from the motor vibration — a secondary sensory channel that complements the visual experience
Ideal For
The TFH Lights & Bubbles Water Panel is designed for any setting where a wall-mounted sensory bubble element is preferred over or in addition to a freestanding tube. Occupational therapy clinics use it in treatment rooms where floor space is dedicated to other equipment. Schools mount it in calm corners, hallways, and sensory rooms where a freestanding tube cannot be positioned safely. Hospitals and residential care facilities install it at bed height or wheelchair height for users who cannot access a floor-standing installation. Families mount it in bedrooms, play areas, and home sensory spaces where a full sensory room tube installation is not feasible.
The adjustable airflow makes it equally appropriate for sensory-seeking and sensory-avoiding users, and for transitions between active and calming therapeutic modes within a single session.
