Bean-Filled Vibroacoustic Therapy Furniture for Sensory Rooms, Clinics & Home Use Across North America.

Description

A bean bag, at its best, invites you to stop. To sink in, shift around, find the position that's just right. The TFH Vibroacoustic Puffy Cloud takes that softly inviting quality and adds something else entirely - a single embedded resonator that, when connected to the TFH Somacoustic Controller, transforms the entire bean-filled surface into a vehicle for vibroacoustic therapy. Every part of the body that touches the cloud feels the music. Available across North America from The Sensory Supply, it is the most accessible and position-flexible entry point into the TFH Somacoustic range.

The Puffy Cloud is bean-filled rather than foam-structured, which changes the experience in two important ways. First, the soft exterior moulds around the user to form a full-body nest - there is no fixed seating position, no correct way to lie, sit, or curl into it. Users can rest their whole body on the surface, or explore with hands, arms, legs, and feet to discover how the vibrations travel and feel through different points of contact. Second, the format makes it genuinely portable and flexible to place - no installation, no fixed footprint, moveable between spaces as needed.

Connect the Puffy Cloud to the TFH Vibroacoustic Resonator Unit (Somacoustic Controller, 9RSX, sold separately) and the resonator inside begins to translate the hertz of the music into vibration felt through the filling at a cellular level. The TFH Resonance Range magnifies musical vibrations so they are felt more easily and heard less clearly - this is not a speaker system and the music will be intentionally muffled. The vibration is the therapy.

Key Features of the TFH Vibroacoustic Puffy Cloud

  • Bean-Filled Construction - The soft, bean-filled interior moulds around the user's body to create a full-body contact surface, allowing vibroacoustic vibrations to be felt through any point of contact - whole body, hands, arms, legs, or feet
  • Single Embedded Resonator - A single resonance speaker built into the bean bag transmits low-frequency musical vibrations through the filling and into the body, delivering proprioceptive sensory input at a cellular level when connected to the Somacoustic Controller
  • Fully Adjustable Vibration Intensity - The amount of vibration is completely adjustable through music choice and bass selection via the connected Somacoustic Controller, allowing the experience to be precisely tailored to each individual's sensory needs and therapeutic goals
  • No Fixed Position - Maximum Flexibility - Unlike structured vibroacoustic furniture, the Puffy Cloud has no fixed orientation or required posture; users can explore any position, making it suitable for a wider range of users and more adaptable to individual preferences
  • Accessible to People with Hearing Impairments - Because the therapy is delivered through physical vibration rather than auditory sound, the Puffy Cloud is genuinely accessible to individuals with hearing impairments, who can experience the full proprioceptive and therapeutic benefit of vibroacoustic input
  • TFH Somacoustic Compatibility - Requires connection to the TFH Vibroacoustic Resonator Unit (9RSX, sold separately); must use the correct amplifier to prevent failures and maintain warranty validity

Vibroacoustic Therapy Through Touch - Why the Bean Bag Format Matters

Most vibroacoustic furniture delivers vibration through a fixed, structured surface - a chair, a rocker, a lounge. The beam bag format of the Puffy Cloud offers something different: a conforming, full-body surface that moves with the user rather than holding them in a set position. For individuals who are sensitive to structured seating, who prefer floor-level positioning, or who benefit from being able to self-direct their contact with the vibration source, this is a meaningful clinical distinction.

The tactile dimension of vibroacoustic therapy - the physical sensation of low-frequency sine wave vibrations moving through the body - is also a route to body awareness that has particular value for individuals who find it difficult to identify or attend to their own physical sensations. As a non-verbal, non-auditory form of input, it works across communication styles and sensory profiles, and it remains accessible and effective even for individuals with significant hearing loss.

Vibroacoustic Therapy & the Evidence Base

Vibroacoustic therapy was developed in Norway by Olav Skille in the 1980s and involves passing pure low-frequency sine wave vibrations into the body through embedded speakers in therapeutic furniture. The Food and Drug Administration has approved vibroacoustic therapy for increasing circulation, pain relief, and improving mobility. Research from the University of Toronto and ongoing clinical evaluation addresses applications including fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, and Alzheimer's disease. Music choice and bass selection determine vibration intensity - and note that because the primary purpose is vibration rather than sound reproduction, music will be muffled during use.

Ideal For

  • Children and adults of all abilities and sensory profiles who enjoy enveloping, whole-body sensory input
  • Occupational therapists seeking a flexible, position-adaptable vibroacoustic therapy tool for clinic settings
  • Sensory rooms and calm corners in schools, clinics, hospitals, and residential facilities
  • Individuals with hearing impairments for whom physical vibration-based therapy is particularly valuable
  • Families creating a home sensory environment where floor-level, casual vibroacoustic input is preferred
