The TUKI BIG Magnetic Blocks Builder 43 is where the TUKI BIG range transitions from an individual construction set to a group resource. At 43 large 10cm foam blocks across 8 Signature shapes, recommended for 2-3 children, it provides the block count and geometric variety needed for sustained group floor building - the kind of session where three children each take ownership of a section, build independently, negotiate how to combine their structures, and end up with something architecturally complex enough to name: a plane, a robot, a castle, a city block. Those are not hypothetical builds. The plane and robot figures shown in the Builder 43 product images require the specific combination of shapes and volume that this set provides. They cannot be built from the Builder 26's 26 blocks and 7 shapes.
The step from Builder 26 to Builder 43 is two things at once: more blocks and one additional shape type. The Builder 26 contains 7 Signature shapes; the Builder 43 contains 8. That eighth shape - confirmed from the product images as an additional rectangle variant (both grey and green rectangles appear in the Builder 43 image set, compared to the Builder 26's single rectangle variant) - adds span, proportion, and structural variety that produces a meaningfully different construction vocabulary. Combined with 43 blocks instead of 26, group sessions at floor scale become richer, longer, and more architecturally ambitious.
Each block is made from closed-cell EVA foam with a waterproof rotating neodymium magnet capsule. Every face of every block attracts every other face in any orientation. The blocks are EN71-certified, BPA-free, non-toxic, disinfectable, and float. The set includes a storage bag and is fully compatible with all other TUKI BIG BUILDER and SMART sets. Available across North America.
Key Features of the TUKI BIG Magnetic Blocks Set - Builder 43
- 43 Large 10cm Magnetic Foam Blocks in 8 Signature TUKI Shapes - Forty-three blocks across 8 distinct shape types - one more shape than the Builder 26 and 17 more blocks - providing the group building volume and geometric vocabulary needed for complex floor-scale structures: planes, robots, buildings, and multi-element architectural forms
- 8 Signature Shapes Including Additional Rectangle Variants - The Builder 43 introduces an 8th Signature shape beyond the Builder 26's 7; the images confirm both grey and green rectangle variants in this set, adding span and proportion variety that expands the structural range available to group builders working at floor scale
- Recommended for 2-3 Children - The Group TUKI BIG Set - With 43 blocks across 8 shapes the Builder 43 is sized for genuine group floor construction; two or three children each have enough blocks to build independently, and enough combined to produce structures of real architectural complexity when they work together
- 10cm x 10cm x 10cm Large-Format BIG Blocks - Each block is a full 10cm cube - twice the linear dimension of the Regular range, eight times the volume per block; these are floor-scale, both-hands, whole-body building blocks for gross motor and proprioceptive development at a physical scale that tabletop construction cannot match
- Rotating Neodymium Magnet Capsules - Full-Angle Connectivity - Every face of every block attracts every other face in any orientation; no wrong connections, no repelling faces, no failed placements - reliable magnetic connectivity at the scale and frequency of group building, where many connections are made across a session
- Four Colours - Turquoise, Grey, Yellow and Pink - Forty-three blocks distributed roughly equally across four colours supports deliberate colour-based building decisions, pattern-making, and the colour-led role allocation that group construction naturally generates when enough blocks of each colour are available
- Closed-Cell EVA Foam - Waterproof, Disinfectable and Floating - Made from closed-cell EVA foam that does not absorb water; blocks wipe clean or disinfect in seconds and float - meeting the hygiene standards required in kindergartens, therapy rooms, and institutional settings where multiple children use shared equipment across multiple sessions
- EN71-Certified, BPA-Free and Non-Toxic - Certified to EN71-1, EN71-2, and EN71-3 European toy safety standards; BPA-free and non-toxic; independently safety-tested; appropriate for use in all regulated early years, therapy, and institutional settings
- Compatible with All TUKI BIG BUILDER and SMART Sets - Every block is fully compatible with all other TUKI BIG products; Builder 43 blocks combine freely with Builder 12, Builder 26, and any SMART set, giving institutions that have started with smaller sets a clear path to scaling their collection
- Storage Bag Included - The set includes a storage bag designed for institutional use - pack-away, transport between rooms, and hygiene between sessions are all supported
- Poland's Toy of the Year 2023 - Made in Poland - Awarded Poland's Toy of the Year 2023; manufactured in Poland to EN71 European standards
Why 43 Blocks and 8 Shapes Is the Group Construction Threshold
The relationship between block count and group construction quality follows a practical logic: below a certain threshold, group building is really parallel individual building - each child has enough blocks to make their own structure but not enough combined to produce something genuinely collaborative. Above that threshold, the group can build a shared structure that is more complex than any individual child could produce alone, and the negotiation, planning, and joint problem-solving that educational and therapeutic literature identifies as the core developmental benefit of group construction play becomes both necessary and natural.
For the TUKI BIG range at 10cm cube scale, that threshold sits around 40 blocks for 2-3 children. With 26 blocks and 2-3 children, each child has roughly 8-13 blocks - enough for a personal sub-structure but limited for meaningful combination. With 43 blocks, each child has 14-21 blocks and the combined pool enables structures of 30-40 blocks - large enough at this cube size to stand waist height on a young child, span a metre across the floor, and accommodate the kind of architectural narrative - "this part is the engine, your part is the wings, their part is the tail" - that sustained collaborative play requires.
The 8th shape type adds a parallel benefit at the construction vocabulary level. More distinct shapes means more structural decisions during the build - which shape goes here, how does this connect to that, what form does this element take - and more structural decisions means richer problem-solving, more spatial reasoning, and more opportunity for the verbal and non-verbal negotiation that group construction develops.
Skills and Developmental Outcomes
- Collaborative Play and Social Communication at Group Scale - Building with 2-3 children using a shared pool of 43 blocks in 8 shapes generates the sustained turn-taking, negotiation, shared planning, and joint decision-making that group construction at meaningful architectural scale produces; the block count sustains these interactions long enough for genuine collaborative depth to develop
- Gross Motor Planning and Bilateral Coordination - Lifting, carrying, and placing 10cm large-format foam blocks in group construction contexts develops bilateral coordination, motor planning, and whole-body spatial awareness; the physical demands of floor building at this scale are a distinct and non-redundant developmental activity
- Spatial Reasoning, Geometry and Early Engineering - Combining 8 distinct shapes including triangles, multiple rectangle variants, cubes, beams, and L-shapes to create stable group structures develops spatial reasoning, 3D mental modelling, and early engineering principles at a level of geometric complexity that smaller or fewer-shape sets cannot sustain
- Executive Function and Group Problem-Solving - Planning a group build, allocating shapes and colours among participants, resolving structural disagreements, and adapting the plan when a section doesn't connect as expected develops the executive function, cognitive flexibility, and collaborative problem-solving that group floor construction at this scale uniquely requires
- Proprioceptive and Tactile Sensory Processing - Handling 43 large-format foam blocks across an extended group build session provides sustained proprioceptive input through repeated lifting, carrying, and placing; the tactile quality of EVA foam at 10cm cube scale is a distinct sensory experience that engages the proprioceptive and tactile systems throughout the session
- Creative Expression and Narrative Construction - Forty-three blocks in 8 shapes at floor scale supports the richest open-ended imaginative group construction this BUILDER range provides; builds are complex enough to sustain narrative projection across a full group session
