The Tumbl Trak Porta Trak is the foldable, portable version of the Original Tumbl Trak - a spring-bed gymnastics tumbling track built on a durable aluminium frame that folds in half without tools and rolls away on casters, available in 15-foot, 20-foot, and 30-foot lengths, used in gymnastics clubs, YMCAs, city recreation programmes, exhibition teams, and mobile coaching programmes across North America. It offers the same spring-bed performance and training quality as the Original Tumbl Trak, in a frame that weighs approximately half as much and can be stored in significantly less floor space.
The Porta Trak was developed specifically for programmes that cannot leave a permanent tumbling track set up - whether because the space is shared, the equipment must be stored each night, or the programme moves between facilities. Small clubs that operate out of rented spaces, recreation departments running multi-use gym floors, exhibition teams that travel, and mobile coaches who set up and break down equipment at each location have all made the Porta Trak a standard piece of their equipment inventory.
The 15-foot and 20-foot Porta Traks fold in half along a central hinge point, reducing their total length to 7.5 feet and 10 feet respectively. The 30-foot unit folds inward from both edges, reducing to a total length of 15 feet. In all cases, casters built into the folded frame allow the unit to be wheeled to storage or a different position without lifting. No tools are required for folding or unfolding. For safety, Tumbl Trak recommends using appropriate assistance when folding and transporting any Porta Trak due to its size and weight.
One important performance note: the Porta Trak has more spring than most tumbling surfaces, including the Original Tumbl Trak in some configurations. Coaches introducing new athletes to the Porta Trak are advised to begin with standing skills before progressing to approach-based tumbling, to account for the increased rebound.
Two landing surface options are recommended by Tumbl Trak for the end of the Porta Trak:
Always add a suitable crash mat or landing surface to the end of the Porta Trak. Never use without a landing surface in place.
Note: Always use under trained coach supervision. The Porta Trak has more spring than most tumbling surfaces - introduce new athletes progressively starting from standing skills. Always have a landing surface in place at the end of the track. Not recommended for outdoor use. Use appropriate assistance when folding and transporting. Replace the polypropylene bed every 5-6 years for safety.
