Stand Under 150 Colour-Changing Fibre Optic Raindrops - Calming or Superactive, Thunderbolts Included.

Description

The Experia Fibre Optic Raincloud is a wall-mounted fibre optic display that creates the sensation of standing under a colour-changing rainfall, available across North America in two models: Calming and Superactive. The 38"L x 18"W x 8"H enclosure mounts to the wall with all included drywall hardware; 150 fibre optic strands hang downward from the unit like raindrops, changing colour continuously. Two decorative thunderbolts are included to complete the storm cloud effect.

The strands are safe to move amongst, touch, and feel. The design is intentionally walkable: users can step into the space beneath the hanging strands and experience the sensation of standing in a colour-changing rain shower. The page's own description confirms this is the product's primary experience β€” "walk in the rain without getting wet." For sensory rooms where an immersive, nature-themed fibre optic experience is the goal, the Raincloud is the most evocative option in the Experia fibre optic range.

The Calming model cycles slowly through colours automatically with no controller required. The Superactive model includes the wireless controller for user-directed colour changes, with the Maze Controller available as an add-on. The IRiS model β€” with full Experia IRiS Talker compatibility β€” is available as a separate product.

Installation is extremely easy; all hardware for drywall mounting is included. A minimum ceiling height of 8 feet is required. Low voltage via included transformer. Standard 110v outlet. Made in the USA.

Key Features of the Experia Fibre Optic Raincloud

  • 150 Fibre Optic Raindrop Strands - Walk Amongst the Colour-Changing Rain - 150 fibre optic strands hang downward from the wall-mounted enclosure in the pattern of falling rain; users can step into the space beneath the strands and experience the sensation of standing in a gentle, colour-changing shower. Safe to touch, hold, and move through.
  • Two Decorative Thunderbolts Included - The Raincloud comes complete with two decorative thunderbolts that mount alongside the cloud enclosure, completing the storm scene and making this one of the most visually distinctive and thematically complete wall-mounted fibre optic products in the Experia range.
  • Calming Model - Auto Colour-Cycling, No Controller Required - The Calming Raincloud cycles slowly through a spectrum of colours from the moment it is plugged in, with no controller or configuration required. Ideal for de-escalation, passive regulation, and environments where a serene, independently operating sensory display is needed.
  • Superactive Model - Wireless Controller, Maze Controller Add-On - The Superactive Raincloud includes the wireless controller for user-directed colour changes, with the Maze Controller available as an add-on for tilt-activated gross motor colour interaction.
  • IRiS Model Available Separately - The IRiS Fibre Optic Raincloud, with full Experia IRiS Talker compatibility, is available as a separate product for existing IRiS system users.
  • Extremely Easy to Install - All Drywall Hardware Included - All necessary hardware for drywall mounting is included; the unit is designed to install simply without specialist tools. Minimum ceiling height of 8 feet required.
  • Safe to Touch and Move Amongst - The fibre optic strands are safe to touch and to move through; users can get close to the light and feel the strands for a tactile sensory experience alongside the visual one.
  • Made in the USA - Manufactured by Experia USA.

Skills and Benefits of the Experia Fibre Optic Raincloud

  • Sensory Regulation and De-Escalation - Standing under the slowly shifting colour of 150 hanging fibre optic strands creates a gentle, enveloping visual and tactile sensory environment; the Calming model's predictable colour cycle is particularly effective for de-escalation and self-regulation.
  • Tactile Exploration and Discrimination - Moving through, touching, and feeling the hanging strands provides a distinctive tactile experience β€” gentle, thin, illuminated, and softly resistant β€” supporting tactile exploration and gradual desensitisation for individuals with tactile hypersensitivity.
  • Visual Tracking and Attention - Following colour shifts through 150 strands simultaneously, and observing the gentle movement of the strands as they are touched and displaced, develops sustained visual attention in a richly immersive, nature-themed context.
  • Cause and Effect - With the Superactive model, activating the wireless controller to change the colour of all 150 raindrop strands creates a dramatic, large-scale cause-and-effect experience with an immediate and visually comprehensive response.
  • Nature and Environmental Awareness - The rain, cloud, and thunderbolt theme provides a natural context for weather vocabulary, nature conversation, and environmental awareness activities β€” making the Raincloud a useful multi-purpose tool across sensory integration, communication, and early learning settings.
  • Social Interaction and Shared Experience - The Raincloud's unique nature-themed installation creates a distinctive shared experience context β€” the "walking in the rain" sensation is inherently social and invites commentary, turn-taking, and communication between users and their therapists, carers, or peers.

FAQ:

  • What is the difference between IRiS, Superactive, Calming?
    • IRiS: Take full control of your Sensory Room with Experia's revolutionary IRiS Wireless Sensory Products range. IRiS Products use the latest technology to allow any IRiS Talker to control any IRiS listener creating stimulating interactive multisensory environments for the user. Each controller has been specifically designed for special needs users to improve skills such as color recognition, gross and fine motor skills.
      • What is a Listener?: Experia products that light up and change colours, or create sound. This would include Bubble Tubes, Fibre Optics, Recordable Speakers, and more.  They are "Listeners" because they are listening for a signal from an Experia controller.
      • What is a Talker?:A Talker is Experia's word for a controller. Talkers/Controllers send signals to Listeners to change colours or make sounds. They are Talking to the Listeners. Talkers would include the Colour Selector, Qube, Balance Beam, and many more.
    • Superactive: The Superactive range of products allow the user a wonderful level of control over their environment. All Superactive products can be controlled with the standard 8 color wireless controller or the brand new wireless Maze Controller! The standard 8 color wireless controller is included with all our Superactive products unless otherwise specified. Adding both controllers allows for maximum Superactive feature usability for the best user experience.
    • Calming: The Calming range of products are designed to calm and relax individuals in certain settings. Simply plug them in and enjoy the lighting as each calming product slowly cycles through a rainbow of colours!

    • This depends not just on the room’s dimensions but on several factors like the layout of the room, location of windows and heating & cooling elements, and number & location of power outlets.

    • Gross & Fine Motor
