The Experia IRiS Fibre Optic Jellyfish is a wall-mounted IRiS Listener with 150 colour-changing fibre optic "tentacles" hanging from a 38"L x 18"W x 8"H enclosure, available across North America. Mount the enclosure to the wall, hang the 150 glowing tentacles below it, and activate any IRiS Talker — the colour of all 150 strands changes immediately. No configuration, no pairing complexity. If no Talker is activated for 5 minutes, the Jellyfish automatically enters passive mode, cycling colours gently on its own.
The tentacle framing is not decorative. The fibre optic strands hang freely in a cluster below the wall-mounted unit, mimicking the form of a jellyfish — and the effect in a darkened or dim sensory room genuinely resembles one. The visual result is distinctive, more organic and movement-suggesting than a flat wall panel or cascade, and the strands can be touched, held, and gently pulled by users who engage closely with it.
Two purchase options are available. Without iConverter, requires at least one IRiS Talker (sold separately) to control colour changes. With iConverter Bundle, includes the IRiS+ iConverter, which unlocks the free IRiS+ App on any iPad or iPhone as the controller, meaning no separate IRiS Talker purchase is required to begin using the Jellyfish interactively.
The page's own description confirms four specific therapeutic uses: distraction, social interaction, motor planning, and fine motor skills. Extremely easy to install — all hardware for drywall mounting is included. 8ft minimum ceiling height required. Maze Controller add-on available.
Low voltage via included transformer. Standard 110v outlet. Made in the USA.
Key Features of the Experia IRiS Fibre Optic Jellyfish
- 150 Fibre Optic Tentacles - Wall-Mounted Jellyfish Form - 150 fibre optic strands hang freely from the 38"L x 18"W x 8"H wall-mounted enclosure, creating the visual impression of a jellyfish with glowing tentacles. The strands are safe to touch and can be held, explored, and gently interacted with by users who engage closely.
- IRiS Listener - Compatible with Any IRiS Talker - The Jellyfish is an IRiS Listener: it responds immediately to any IRiS Talker signal and changes the colour of all 150 tentacles simultaneously. Compatible with every IRiS Talker in the Experia range.
- Auto Passive Mode After 5 Minutes of Inactivity - If no IRiS Talker is activated for 5 minutes, the Jellyfish enters passive mode and begins slowly cycling colours automatically — making it suitable for settings where it needs to function as a passive ambient display between active sessions.
- Two Purchase Options - With or Without iConverter Bundle - Without iConverter requires at least one IRiS Talker. With iConverter Bundle includes the IRiS+ iConverter, unlocking the free IRiS+ App on any iPad or iPhone as the controller — no separate Talker purchase required.
- Free IRiS+ App Compatible via IRiS+ iConverter - The free IRiS+ App can control the Jellyfish wirelessly from any iPad or iPhone when paired with the IRiS+ iConverter (included in the bundle or sold separately).
- Maze Controller Add-On Available - The Maze Controller can be added for tilt-activated gross motor colour interaction.
- Extremely Easy to Install - All Drywall Hardware Included - All necessary hardware for drywall mounting is included; the Jellyfish is designed to install quickly without specialist tools or skills. 8ft minimum ceiling height required.
- Uses: Distraction, Social Interaction, Motor Planning & Fine Motor Skills - The Jellyfish's hanging, touchable, colour-changing tentacles make it a natural tool for distraction (redirecting attention in regulation sessions), social interaction (sharing and pointing at the tentacles), motor planning (reaching and selecting specific strands), and fine motor skill development (holding, threading, and manipulating individual strands).
- Made in the USA - Manufactured by Experia USA. Instruction manual available in the Specs tab.
Skills Developed Through the Experia IRiS Fibre Optic Jellyfish
- Tactile Exploration and Discrimination - The hanging fibre optic strands provide a distinctive tactile texture — each strand is thin, slightly flexible, and illuminated — supporting tactile exploration, texture awareness, and gradual desensitisation for individuals with tactile hypersensitivity.
- Visual Tracking and Attention - Following the colour shifts across 150 strands, and visually tracking the gentle movement of the tentacles as they are touched and released, develops sustained visual attention in a highly motivating and organically moving sensory context.
- Motor Planning - Reaching toward specific tentacles, selecting individual strands, and pulling or releasing them develops intentional motor planning in a close-proximity, fine-target context.
- Fine Motor Skills - Grasping, threading, and manipulating individual fibre optic strands develops fine pincer grip, finger isolation, and hand-to-eye coordination.
- Cause and Effect - Activating any IRiS Talker and watching all 150 tentacles change colour simultaneously creates a large-scale, visually dramatic cause-and-effect experience; the scale of the colour change relative to the simplicity of the Talker action is particularly motivating.
- Social Interaction - The Jellyfish's distinctive visual form — the most recognisable animal-inspired product in the Experia range — creates a natural context for pointing, naming, turn-taking, and shared engagement in group and paired sensory sessions.
