Experia LED Fibre Optic Wall Carpet for Sensory Rooms, OT Clinics & Inclusive Classrooms Across North America.

Description

The Experia LED Fibre Optic Sensory Wall Carpet is a wall-mounted tactile and visual sensory panel available across North America, in two models: Calming and Superactive. At 80"L x 41"W x 4"H, it covers a substantial section of wall β€” nearly 7 feet wide and over 3 feet tall β€” with hundreds of bright LED fibre optic spots arranged in a dense, carpet-like array. The spots gradually change colour across the entire surface: approach the wall, run hands through the strands, and watch the colours shift around and between your fingers.

There is no electricity in the fibre optic strands β€” only light travels through them. This means the wall carpet is completely safe to touch, explore, and handle by any user at any ability level, including those who cannot self-regulate their sensory engagement. The only safety note is that the LED light source unit itself should be kept out of reach; the carpet surface is fully accessible for direct contact.

The Calming model cycles through colours automatically with no controller required β€” plug it in and the slow, steady colour shift begins immediately. The Superactive model includes the wireless Qi-charging controller (90ft range), giving users direct control over 8 colour choices from anywhere in the room. The Maze Controller is available as an add-on for tilt-to-change gross motor interaction. The IRiS model β€” compatible with all Experia IRiS Talkers β€” is available as a separate product.

Low voltage via included transformer. Standard 110v outlet. Made in the USA.

Key Features of the Experia LED Fibre Optic Sensory Wall Carpet

  • Hundreds of Bright LED Fibre Optic Spots - Dense, Carpet-Like Coverage Across 80"x41" - The wall carpet's surface is covered in hundreds of individual LED fibre optic points arranged in a dense array β€” a carpet texture on the wall that is as tactile as it is visual; users can touch, press, and run hands across the entire 80-inch-wide surface.
  • Safe to Touch - No Electricity in the Fibre Optics - Only light travels through the fibre optic strands; there is no electrical current in any part of the carpet surface, meaning the product is completely safe for direct contact, exploration, and prolonged tactile handling by users of all ages and abilities. The LED light source must be kept out of reach.
  • Calming Model - Auto Colour-Cycling, No Controller Required - The Calming wall carpet cycles slowly and continuously through a spectrum of colours from the moment it is plugged in; no controller, no configuration, and no user action required. Perfect for de-escalation and passive calming environments.
  • Superactive Model - Wireless Qi-Charging Controller, 90ft Range, Maze Controller Compatible - The Superactive model includes the wireless 8-colour controller with Qi charging (90ft range), giving users direct colour control from anywhere in the room. The Maze Controller is available as an add-on for tilt-activated gross motor colour interaction.
  • IRiS Model Available Separately - A fully IRiS-compatible version is available as a separate product for buyers who want wireless control via any Experia IRiS Talkers alongside other IRiS equipment.
  • Wall-Mounted, Low-Maintenance Installation - The unit mounts to a wall and operates on low voltage via the included transformer plugged into a standard 110v outlet; the LED light source means colours never fade and there are no lamps to replace.
  • Made in the USA - Manufactured by Experia USA. Instruction manual available in the Specs tab.

Skills Developed Through the Experia LED Fibre Optic Sensory Wall Carpet

  • Tactile Exploration and Discrimination - Reaching into, pressing, and running hands across hundreds of individual fibre optic strands provides a distinctive tactile texture β€” dense, slightly flexible, and illuminated β€” that supports tactile exploration, texture discrimination, and desensitisation for individuals with tactile hypersensitivity.
  • Visual Tracking and Attention - Following the colour shifts across the full 80-inch-wide surface, and watching the interplay of colour changes around the hands during touch, develops sustained visual attention in a highly motivating multisensory context.
  • Cause and Effect - With the Superactive model, selecting a colour via the wireless controller and watching the entire 80-inch carpet surface shift immediately creates a large-scale, visually dramatic cause-and-effect connection that is among the most visually rewarding in the Experia range.
  • Colour Recognition - The gradual colour transitions across the full carpet surface β€” or the discrete 8-colour selections of the Superactive model β€” provide a rich, large-format context for colour identification and naming.
  • Fine Motor Skills - Reaching toward specific sections of the carpet, pinching individual fibre optic strands, and pressing specific areas develops intentional, localised fine motor engagement in a tactile sensory context.
  • Gross Motor Skills - Reaching across the full 80-inch width of the carpet, pressing with both hands simultaneously, or using the Maze Controller for tilt-based colour changes develops gross motor reach, bilateral coordination, and arm extension.
  • De-escalation and Sensory Regulation - The Calming model's slowly shifting colour display across a large, tactile, approachable surface is a natural de-escalation tool; the combined visual and tactile input supports calming regulation without requiring any active engagement from the user.

Ideal forΒ

  • Sensory rooms and multi-sensory environments adding a large-format, safe-to-touch fibre optic wall panel
  • OT clinics and therapy spaces where tactile desensitisation, fine motor reach, visual tracking, and cause-and-effect interaction are therapeutic goals
  • Schools, resource rooms, and inclusive classrooms where a wall-mounted, fully accessible tactile and visual sensory display supports regulation and engagement
  • Children and adults of all abilities who benefit from safe, direct tactile contact with colour-changing fibre optic strands
  • Settings building toward the full Experia Sensory Room range who want a standalone fibre optic wall feature

FAQ:

  • What is the difference between IRiS, Superactive, Calming?
    • IRiS: Take full control of your Sensory Room with Experia's revolutionary IRiS Wireless Sensory Products range. IRiS Products use the latest technology to allow any IRiS Talker to control any IRiS listener creating stimulating interactive multisensory environments for the user. Each controller has been specifically designed for special needs users to improve skills such as color recognition, gross and fine motor skills.
      • What is a Listener?: Experia products that light up and change colours, or create sound. This would include Bubble Tubes, Fibre Optics, Recordable Speakers, and more.  They are "Listeners" because they are listening for a signal from an Experia controller.
      • What is a Talker?:A Talker is Experia's word for a controller. Talkers/Controllers send signals to Listeners to change colours or make sounds. They are Talking to the Listeners. Talkers would include the Colour Selector, Qube, Balance Beam, and many more.
    • Superactive: The Superactive range of products allow the user a wonderful level of control over their environment. All Superactive products can be controlled with the standard 8 color wireless controller or the brand new wireless Maze Controller! The standard 8 color wireless controller is included with all our Superactive products unless otherwise specified. Adding both controllers allows for maximum Superactive feature usability for the best user experience.
    • Calming: The Calming range of products are designed to calm and relax individuals in certain settings. Simply plug them in and enjoy the lighting as each calming product slowly cycles through a rainbow of colours!
  • Will the Sensory Room packages fit in my room?
    • This depends not just on the room’s dimensions but on several factors like the layout of the room, location of windows and heating & cooling elements, and number & location of power outlets.
  • What skills do Experia products help develope?
    • Gross & Fine Motor
    • Auditory
    • Communicative
    • Visual
    • Creative & logical thinking
